Bengaluru:
A Jet Airways flight headed to Mangalore from Bengaluru returned to the airport minutes after take-off today after smoke was detected in its cabin.
Flight 9W 2839 with 65 passengers and four crew members took off from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at 10 am and returned at 10:20 am.
A statement released by the airlines said all passengers and crew are safe. Four of them were given first aid at the airport.
"Precautionary evacuation of guests and crew was carried out immediately on landing," the statement added.
"A full emergency was declared at the airport for priority landing of the flight following which the runway was closed for operations at 10.20 am and the aircraft landed safely", a statement released by the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) read. Operations resumed at 10.51 am, BIAL added.
