Bengaluru:
Police in Bengaluru are investigating a letter received by the French consulate in the city which warns French President Francois Hollande to not visit India for the upcoming Republic Day parade.
The single page letter, with an Indian map in the background, contains three lines in English. It was received by the consulate on January 11.
"The letter - which ends with words 'Al Qaeda' - was received by the French consulate here and handed over to the Highgrounds police station on January 11," said Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Charan Reddy.
Police said the letter was sent from Chennai.
Security outside the consulate, already increased after the recent terror attacks in Paris, has been further stepped up.
Chief guest Francois Hollande will watch the Republic Day parade on Rajpath in New Delhi, where President Pranab Mukherjee will take the salute at the parade.
The French president's visit to India comes over two months after the terror attacks in Paris in which 130 people were killed.
