Bangalore: A 24-year-old housewife was allegedly smothered to death by her husband in the K R Puram area of the city. The man then went on to kill himself, the police said.
Anusha, a housewife, had been married to Vinay Kumar (26) for just a year and was being harassed by her father-in-law and husband for dowry, police said, quoting a complaint lodged by Anusha's father.
The complaint alleged that Kumar and his father killed Anusha on Wenesday.
According to the police, within hours of committing the crime, the father-son duo went to Sathnur village in Ramanagara district about 50 kilometers southwest of Bangalore and hung themselves from a tree near a field.
They were probably haunted by the fear of getting caught for the crime or burdened by guilt, police said.
