Bangalore:
Parents of students attending private schools in the city have finally decided to take matters into their own hands. They are in the process of forming an association, so that they can work collectively to prevent harassment from school authorities.
AR Ashok Kumar Adiga of Basaveshwarnagar is the force behind the idea. He says that he found the need for such an association after having suffered at the hands of school managements.
"I first formed an association of parents sending their children to Vani School, Rajajinagar. Now, after suffering harassment from managements for more than eight years, I have decided to take the matter seriously and form an association of parents who face similar problems," said Adiga. Adiga is now in the process of approaching parents to be part of the association, which will be launched officially on January 15, 2011. "The objective is to help parents facing unnecessary problems, and also to let school managements know that they cannot act whimsically," Adiga said.
Adiga added that the need for an association was especially acute since many private schools are affiliated to the ICSE or CBSE boards, and complaining to the government brings no respite.
"We have seen reports on early admissions in schools for the next academic year. We will launch a campaign against that after the association takes shape," said Adiga.
