Bangalore:
A group of women activists staged a protest in front of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore today, demanding action against the chief administrative officer who is alleged of sexually harassing a former medical officer.
The victim had alleged that the officer harassed her since 2009. She had filed a complaint to the institute's gender sensitivity committee two years later in 2011.
The victim claimed that the institute sacked her instead of taking action against the officer. She said, "He was a tormentor, and used his influence to escape any action". She later moved the High court questioning the termination of her services.
None from the institute was available for an official comment on the case. However, according to sources, the investigating unit of the institute has raised questions why the victim did not approach the police and moved court over the issue of her termination. It also claims that the victim had been saying to a section of the media that she had quit the job out of frustration.
Sources say the matter is still under investigation within the institute.
