Bangalore:
Glad tidings await those who are tired of facing traffic hurdles on Kasturba Gandhi (KG) Road. Plans are on to erect a skywalk from KG Road to Kaveri Bhavan and Kandaya Bhavan, to reduce traffic inconvenience.
Challenging the traffic hassles, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday, in a public interest litigation (PIL), submitted to the high court that they will construct a skywalk on KG Road. Advocate KN Subba Reddy has filed a PIL, requesting the construction of a subway from KG Road to Kandaya Bhavan.
On June 15, representation regarding the construction of a subway was given to the BBMP. However, there has been no response so far, he said. The BBMP counsel KN Putte Gowda recommended a skywalk instead of a subway. The division bench headed by chief justice JS Khehar and justice AS Bopanna disposed the case, directing the BBMP to get approval from concerned authorities by January 31, 2011. By March 31, 2011, the BBMP should be able to complete the skywalk.
