The matrix of CCTV images show how the accused brutally attacked the woman inside the ATM
Bangalore:
48 hours after a man attacked a woman with a machete at an ATM booth in Bangalore, the police has not been able to identify him despite four minutes of security camera footage that capture him striking the 44-year-old on her skull.
"We have announced Rs one lakh cash award for information leading to the arrest of the suspect," the Joint Commissioner of Police B K Singh said today.
Jyothi Uday is recovering in hospital from a series of complicated operations including surgeries for her fractured skull and reconstructive surgery for her nose, most of which was sliced off during the attack.
Sources say Mrs Uday is likely to speak to police officers at the hospital today to share details of the egregious assault.
The man followed her into the ATM booth early on Tuesday morning. There was no security guard present. He pulled down the shutters behind him and then struck her on the head after she refused to hand over money to him. Then he left the booth. Three hours later, school children noticed blood trickling onto the road and alerted the traffic police.
Banks have been given till Sunday to ensure each ATM machine is covered by security cameras and a guard with access to an alarm.
