Bengaluru: A worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS was brutally killed by two men, who repeatedly struck the 35-year-old man with machetes on a busy street in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Rudresh was returning from an RSS meeting nearby on his bike when he was attacked by two men, who were also on a bike and wore helmets. They first knocked Rudresh down from his bike and then hacked him with machetes near a busy shopping zone on Commercial Street around 12:45 pm.
The attackers then managed to escape.
Rudresh was rushed to Bowring Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for a postmortem.
Police said they have registered a case and are investigating all angles including personal rivalry.
"Our team is investigating, we are working on specific leads, we are hopeful of arresting the culprits", said P Harishekaran, Additional Commissioner of Bengaluru Police (East).
Rudresh was a resident of Bengaluru and worked as a construction contractor. He is survived by his wife and two children.
