Bangalore: A six-year-old girl from Karnataka has died after falling into a huge vessel of boiling hot sambar that was meant to be served to students at her school for mid-day meal.
The tragedy happened yesterday at a government school in Chikballapur district, over 70 kilometres from state capital Bangalore.
According to the school authorities, the girl fell into the vessel accidently while she was playing with her friends during lunch hour.
"This happened during the lunch hour. The girls were playing and she accidentally fell into the sambar vessel. We immediately rushed her to hospital," the school's principal said.
The girl, who had suffered over 70 per cent burns, succumbed to her injuries early this morning.
