Bengaluru: There is no bomb in a "suspicious object" found a while ago in central Bengaluru's Cauvery Junction, the city's police chief NS Megharikh has said.

The area was on alert on Friday afternoon after a package was spotted and reported by some residents of the area. Cauvery Junction is near a movie theatre and not far from the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's residence.

The bomb disposal squad was called in and they have opened the package. The police said it had a round glass jar with some liquid that seemed to be the remains of liquor.

It was packed in jute and had printing on it in Chinese script.

Policeman and sniffer dogs are still combing the area.
