An autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru is seen smashing the helmet of a bike taxi rider, abusing him and threatening him in a viral video that has now triggered police action. The Bengaluru police have registered a case after the video was flagged on social media.
The bike taxi driver, who is reportedly from the northeast, works with the aggregator Rapido. In the video, the auto driver can be heard telling him that because of him, auto drivers are losing their customers.
"Friends, take a look at how the illegal Rapido business is happening. This fellow has come from other country and drives around like a king," the auto driver says. He adds that this is a threat to the auto industry.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday near the Indira Nagar metro station in Bengaluru.
The video was shot by a witness, who later shared it on Twitter, tagging the police and requesting action.
The Bengaluru police said that strict action would be taken.
"Police in Indiranagar are investigating the incident. Strict and necessary action will be taken," Bengaluru City Police said in a tweet.
