What the Metro means to Bangalore

Bangalore: The people of Bangalore have now had a chance to take a ride on their brand new Metro. And so far the mood is upbeat.

Many of the residents queued up in order to be among the first ones on board the Namma Metro.

"I have been waiting to go in the Bangalore Metro. It is a wonderful development," said a commuter.

"We want to be the first to travel in the Bangalore Metro we are very proud of it," said another.

The first phase only covers seven kilometres of the city - between Mahatma Gandhi road and Byapanahalli - and a lot of the first time travellers may have hopped on board out of curiosity rather than an actual need to commute. But the response was overwhelmingly positive.

"It was very time-saving. From Byapanahalli if you come to MG Road, it takes around 45 minutes in car. Now it took us only 7 to 8 minutes. It was very nice and we like it. It is very clean at present," said anoter resident.

"It was an amazing journey and a great experience to witness. You can still see people coming out of Metro with a smile on their face," added another.
