Woman held captive rescued, lawyer arrested

Bangalore: A woman allegedly held captive for over 20 months by a lawyer, an employee of her deceased husband, was rescued on Saturday, police said.

S K Paramesh, a legal advisor in a private company with the help of his four friends had allegedly kidnapped the deceased company owner's wife on October 2, 2009 and had kept her in a small room, a police release said.

He had also allegedly robbed property documents, cheque book and Rs 15,000, it said.

Paramesh had allegedly tortured Meena and got the properties transferred to his name. He had also reportedly withdrawn Rs 20 lakh kept under fixed deposit, the release said.

Police are on the lookout for his friends involved in the abduction.
