Bangalore: A 62-year-old woman was rescued, but with burns, after she allegedly tried to immolate herself in a Vijayanagar park in Bangalore early today, police said.
The woman, identified as Mahalakshmi, suffered 40 per cent burns and was admitted to hospital. Her condition is stated to be serious, police said.
The reason behind the alleged suicide attempt is unknown and Mahalakshmi's family members are yet to be questioned, they said.
The woman was rushed to hospital by police personnel who were posted near the park in view of the preparations for Ganesh Chathurthi festival which is celebrated annually in the park, they said.
