Bhopal: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Bhopal, Pankaj Maheshwari issued a notice to Dow Chemicals on Friday to appear before the court on July 4 and present its stand with regard to the Bhopal gas leak disaster of December 1984.
Bhopal Group for Information and Action, an NGO working with the gas-affected people, had filed an application seeking to make Dow Chemical America a party to the case.
It contended Dow Chemicals was now the owner of the erstwhile Union Carbide Corporation.
The toxic gas, which had leaked from the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, killed at least over 3,000 people.
