Bhopal: A man was booked today for allegedly forcing a 10-year-old boy into begging and exploiting him.
The police swung into action after the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Priyanka Kanungo spotted the boy begging in front of a coffee house under TT Nagar Police Station area here and brought it to the notice of authorities, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandel told PTI.
The boy told the cops that one Shakeel had forced him into begging. Police registered a case under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and were looking for him, the ASP said.
Asked about the reports that the accused had forced some 50 local children into begging, ASP Chandel said police were probing the case from all angles.
The boy is now in the care of Special Juvenile Police Unit, he said.
