The chief ministers of Maharashtra and Jharkhand paid homage to soldiers who died fighting for the country at the recently inaugurated
Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal. Devendra Fadnavis and Raghuvar Das were accompanied by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Chouhan during their visit on Monday evening.
The memorial was inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday, October 14. The memorial is unique in the manner in which it showcases the extreme climates faced by soldiers who guard the borders, from minus degree temperatures in Siachen to the hot deserts of Rajasthan.
While praising the initiative of the Madhya Pradesh government which executed the project, Mr Fadnavis said that such memorials help inculcate a feeling of patriotism among the citizens. He described the various displays inside the memorial as "unique".
"This is very motivational, beautiful and comparable with any memorial in the world," he said.
Jharkhand chief minister Raghuvar Das said that the construction of the
Smarak was exemplary, and that the Madhya Pradesh government had made a unique attempt at "repaying the debt of the brave sldiers who sacrificed their lives for security of the country".
During the visit, the three chief ministers also inspected the displays including the picture gallery and the auditorium.

Shaurya Raj Kalash' - a display made in honour of 284 soldiers from Madhya Pradesh who died during various wars and anti-terror operations.
