Bhopal: A drunk man creating a ruckus was brutally thrashed by police at a railway station in Madhya Pradesh. A police official on Monday assured action against the guilty.

A television grab surfaced on Monday showing Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel at Satna railway station thrashing Vijay Sodhiya, (in his 30s) on Sunday night.

Led by Assistant Sub-inspector Santosh Tiwari, four GRP personnel reached the spot and beat him up before tying him and dragging him away.

When Sodhiya resisted, all the five policemen stood on his back.

The bleeding Sodhiya begged for mercy with folded hands but it did not deter the policemen.

Satna GRP officer in-charge P.S. Chabra said a departmental inquiry has begun against ASI Tiwari and other policemen.

"The man was in drunken condition and was creating ruckus, so policemen were taking him from there but he did not want to go. However, I also accept that police should handle the issue with sensitivity and not in the way they tackled it," he said.
