Bhopal : A man whose daughter was gang-raped by four men in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district on Thursday said that he was slapped by policemen when he tried to file a case at the local police station. An First Information Report (FIR) was only registered after the local media intervened.
"I was told by policemen that no FIR could be registered against Gurjar community," the man told reporters.
According to the victim, she was returning home from a fair, when four men -- all her neighbours -- came on a motorbike, put a handkerchief on her mouth and took her to an unknown place, where they raped here.
She also identified the accused rapists as Manish, Bhura, Rakesh and Bhane.
Local police soon swung into action.
"We have arrested all the four accused in the case," said Ramjilal Sharma, a police officer at Awantipura police station of Shajapur, over 200 km from Bhopal.
It was the fourth case of gang rape within a week in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier two cases were reported in Gwalior and one in Betul district.
