Bhopal : A school picnic outing turned into tragedy when five people, including three children, were killed when their speeding bus fell into a ditch in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh early Sunday, officials said.
Ranjana Gahlot, a teacher of Satya Sidhi Public School, said: "We were coming from Ujjain district and going for a picnic. But the driver was going too fast. We warned him but he ignored us and lost control of the vehicle."
"There were 60 passengers, including 45 children, in the bus. Five died on the spot, while 45 are injured," said Ravindra Choudhary, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Dhar.
Five seriously injured were referred to Indore for treatment.
Dhar is over 250 km from the state capital.
