55-yr-old woman found murdered in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The police today recovered the body of a 55-year-old woman with multiple head injuries and her throat slit from a house in busy Rasulgarh area in the state capital.

The incident took place at Sabar Sahi area, according to police, sometime between 12.20 pm to 12.45 pm when no other member of the family was present at the house.

The victim has been identified as Bachchansuddha Pattnaik.

The woman, also the director of a finance company, was declared dead by doctors at the Capital Hospital.

"The prime facie indicated it as a clear case of murder involving hardened criminals," said city DCP Nitinjit Singh.

Though the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police have ruled out business rivalry.

A mobile phone and handbag reportedly used by the victim were recovered from a nearby drain. Cops also found a blood-stained t-shirt from the spot.

"We are still in search of more clues," stated the official.

The husband of the victim - Madhucharan Patnaik - told police that "we suspect the involvement of the security guard who was in first shift". The guard has been missing since the incident took place, police said.
