Five engineering students arrested for looting bus passengers at knifepoint

Bhubaneswar: At least five students of a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar were arrested on Sunday for looting bus passengers at knifepoint, official said.

The boys, all aged 19, told police that they were forced to commit the crime on February 27 because the monthly expenses they were getting from their homes were inadequate.

They had looted Rs 6500 in cash and three mobile phones from two passengers at Bhubaneswar bus stand, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitinjit Singh told reporters.

Police have recovered two knives, Rs 6000 and the three mobile phones that they had gifted away to their respective girlfriends, said Singh adding investigation is on to find out if they have committed any other crimes.
