Bhubaneswar: Over 3,500 doctors on Monday wore black badges in Odisha protesting the Centre's proposal to set up National Commission of Human Resources for Health (NCHRH) to regulate medical services and related policies.
The symbolic protest was observed by doctors across the state following a strike call given by Indian Medical Association (IMA) against the Centre's proposal.
The doctors also staged a demonstration in the state capital to register their opposition to the Centre's move though they did not abstain from work, IMA's Odisha unit Secretary Saroj Sahu said.
Health services were not affected in the state as the doctors performed their duties and simply observed a symbolic protest, Health Minister Prasanna Acharya said.
