Bhubaneswar: A woman tourist fromRussia drowned while bathing in the sea at Puri in Orissa today, police said.
The 45-year-old woman,identified as Valutca Irina, was dragged into the sea by an undercurrent whilebathing with five other foreigners near Swargadwar, Sea Beach Police Stationin-charge officer Amulya Kumar said.
Though the woman wasrushed to a nearby government hospital, the doctors could not save her, Mr Kumarsaid.
She was among a 60-membergroup of foreigners visiting Puri and was scheduled to leave on Thursday, Mr Kumar added.
Her husband, an ISKONdevotee at Kolkata, has been informed, he said.
