New Delhi: Hinting that not much should be read into his recent visit to Patna and his proximity to chief minister Nitish Kumar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the Aam Aadmi Party has not extended any support to any political party in the Bihar assembly elections.
"I am not supporting anyone in Bihar and I have not gone there for campaigning. I had gone for a workshop on governance organised by the Bihar Chief Minister before the dates for elections were announced," Mr Kejriwal said.
Mr Kumar's Janata Dal (United) had supported AAP during the Delhi assembly elections, and also during AAP's fight in Varanasi, where Mr Kejriwal was pitted against Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections last year.
Both leaders share a personal rapport, but the AAP leader has hinted that not much should be read about reports of closeness between Mr Kejriwal and Mr Kumar.
According to sources, the decision comes in the backdrop of Mr Kumar's ally Lalu Prasad making statements about the Bihar elections being a fight between "forward and backward castes".
A section of AAP leadership was also uncomfortable supporting the grand secular alliance because of Mr Prasad's conviction in the fodder scam.
On a question about relations between Delhi Government and the Centre, he accused the BJP led National Democratic Alliance government of "interfering" in affairs of Delhi on a day-to-day basis and trying to trigger "rebellion" in the bureaucracy.
The Delhi Chief Minister was speaking at a convention organised by All India Management Association (AIMA).
