He said that while partner Nitish Kumar would continue as Bihar chief minister and "look after the state," he would take their fight against the BJP national. Rahul Gandhi, whose party the Congress is part of the Grand Alliance, also lashed out at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who fronted his party's campaign in Bihar, saying, "The message from Bihar is echoing all over, which is that the prime minister should listen and try to understand...PM Modi, the BJP and the RSS cannot divide this country. Nitish Kumar said he had received congratulatory calls from leaders of parties from across the country, among them PM Modi, who also shared on Twitter that he had congratulated Mr Kumar.
"PM congratulated Nitishji. It was nice. But I don't know if he did it from the heart," said Lalu Yadav.
