Patna: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has said it firmly supports the existing reservation policy enshrined in the Constitution. They also said that the remarks of chief Mohan Bhagwat was distorted by the critics to create confusion about the organisation's view on the issue.

The RSS has been under persistent attack from the grand alliance in Bihar and other political parties at national level over its chief's reported demand for review of reservation policy.

"The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's views on reservation policy has been presented (by critics) after distorting it...an attempt has been made to create confusion about the RSS's stand on reservation policy.

"The RSS condemns such efforts to distort Mr Bhagwat's views to mislead the people and create confusion about its stand on reservation," Kshethra Karyawah (Regional Head), north-east, Dr Mohan Singh said in a statement.

He said that the RSS was of the view that the existing reservation policy should necessarily stay under the
constitutional arrangements for ensuring social justice and social harmony in the country.

"The RSS firmly supports the reservation policy enshrined in the constitution," the RSS office-bearer said.

"The RSS was also of the view that the OBCs, EBCs and SC/STs must continue to benefit from the reservation policy in order to enable the objectives of the founding fathers of the constitution to succeed," he added.

"The reservation policy issue should not be politicised," Mr Singh said, referring to raging controversy over the RSS chief's reported remarks for review of the reservation policy.
