Lalu Prasad's sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap Yadav
Patna:
With Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal expecting to be the largest single party with 80 seats in the Bihar assembly elections, questions are being raised whether his two sons will be getting ministerial berths in the new government.
Mr Prasad's youngest son - 26-year-old Tejaswi, who is tipped to be his political heir - and elder Tej Pratap, 27, won their maiden elections this time from Raghopur and Mahua.
While Mr Prasad has stuck to his commitment of the top job staying with Nitish Kumar, his party is expected to wield enormous clout in the new government.
Asked whether the party will seek ministerial berths for the two younger Yadavs, Mr Prasad's wife Rabri Devi, who is also a former chief minister, indicted that no such decision has been taken. "What we have got is enough," she told reporters in Patna.
But Mr Prasad's daughter Misa Bharati -- who had contested and lost last year's Lok Sabha elections -- said there was nothing wrong with her brothers getting ministerial berths. "Every MLA wants to minister, so if my brothers become ministers what's wrong with it?" she said.
She, however, made it clear that all the decisions will be taken by the senior leaders.
Despite its big win, Mr Prasad's party has insisted that Mr Kumar - once his arch-rival -- will be in the driving seat in Bihar. "Nitish Kumar is and will remain in charge of Bihar," Mr Prasad too, said, hugging his partner during their joint address to the media.
Mr Prasad - a two-time chief minister - has not contested this election following his conviction in a fodder scam case. He will be barred from contesting an election for six years.
Only three of his nine children -- Misa Bharti, Tej Pratap and former cricketer Tejaswi - have entered politics.
