Over Rs 10 Lakh in Cash and 3,000 Litres of Liquor Seized in Bihar Ahead of Polls

Patna: In continuing operations to enforce the Model Code of Conduct, more than Rs 10.5 lakh unaccounted cash and 3,112 litres of illegal liquor were seized from different parts of the state today.

Additional Chief Election Officer R Lakshmanan said Rs 4.52 lakh Nepali currency was seized by Sashtra Seema Bal(SSB) in East Champaran district and one person arrested in this regard.

Giving details, he said Rs 5,45,895 was seized in Muzaffarpur and Rs 5,02,900 in Madhubani district.

Lakshamanan said more than Rs 2.54 crore unaccounted cash has been seized so far during the special drive in view of Bihar Assembly elections.

He said 3,112 litres of illegal liquor was seized during the day. With this, a total of over 2 lakh litres of illegal liquor has so far been seized in the state.

He said total 651 cases have been registered for defacing public property and 112 cases of misuse of vehicles. Till date 648 arms/weapons and 2,388 cartridges have been seized and total 52,277 non-bailable warrants have been executed so far, he added.
