Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday telephoned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and congratulated him on the victory of his Grand Alliance in the assembly elections.
PM Modi tweeted that he had "a telephonic conversation with Nitish. Congratulated him on the victory".
The Janata Dal-United is now looking forward to making the next government in Bihar.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party conceded defeat in the Bihar elections even as full elections results were yet to be declared.
"BJP lost only because of alliance arithmetic," union minister Prakash Javadekar told the media.
BJP vice president Prabhat Jha added: "We failed to understand people's mind. We will have to change our election strategy."
Meanwhile, BJP ally Shiv Sena has said the PM must shoulder blame for the defeat. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has congratulated Nitish Kumar and the party's Sanjay Raut said, "Nitish is the new hero of politics."
