Mamata attacks UPA Government
  • They do what they want. They do not even bother consulting anyone (allies).
  • They need so much money that they are hell-bent on selling the country out in 7 days...
  • Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hain, dekhte hain  zor kitna bazu-e kaatil mein  hain
  • If you remove LPG subsidy, how will the mid-day meal scheme work?
  • The country cannot be run  only from Delhi, we will form a federal front against these moves...
  • Congress feels angry...Why?
  • I  will come every 15 days if this makes the government angry. I will bring ice too if they feel angry
  • Till Delhi is the capital, we have to come to Delhi to seek justice
  • If you stop me, I'll say rukawat ke liye khed hain (laughter from the crowd)
  • I work for the people, I have nothing to fear

Mamata Banerjee says
  • The FDI in  retail has been imposed by a government which does not invest confidence of the Parliament
  • The only thing left for them to do is the insurance and pension bill
  • I tried working with them for three years
  • But I do not need a ministry, I need the country
  • Selling the country cannot be reforms
  • If the country survives, the government will survive
  • In our manifesto, we had said before the elections we will not support FDI in retail
  • US government also told Wal-Mart that 60% has  to be locally procured and look what our government did?
  • If you sell out, the people will boot you out - that is the beauty of  democracy
  • Fertilizer prices have been increased so much that farmers cannot buy it.
  • They have raised fuel prices, do the petrol companies need money burdening the people?

  • Her revolt against the government's decision will go down in history.

Congress leadership in West Bengal is holding a rally in Kolkata in support of FDI. They are marching to the Hazra crossing , a stronghold of Mamata Banerjee., barely half a kilometre away from her residence.

Trinamool leaders say protest is not limited to West Bengal alone. During the Opposition sponsored Bharat bandh on September 20, Mamata Banerjee had opposed the shutdown in West Bengal... she had said bandhs weren't Trinamool's style of politics and that her party was opposed to such shutdowns in principal.
