Mamata magic wins four of six municipal bodies, but Haldia stays with Left
The Mamata magic remains intact a year after she powered a historic victory against the Left in West Bengal and became the state's chief minister. Her Trinamool Congress has won four of the six civic bodies that were elected on Tuesday. However, the CPM held onto Haldia, which is being seen as a setback for Ms Banerjee. Cooper's Camp, traditionally a Congress stronghold, did not break its habit.

Congress leads in Cooper's Camp: Congress is set to sweep Cooper's Camp municipality. Out of total 12 seats, Congress is leading in 11. It has been a Congress stronghold. The result gains importance as Congress and Trinamool Congress, despite being allies at the Centre and state, fought separately.

Left leads in Haldia: Out of total 26 seats Left is leading in 14 seats, and Trinamool Congress is leading 11 seats so far. It is a huge disappointment for the Trinamool Congress in Haldia municipality. Both CPM and Congress had complained of terror tactics by Trinamool Congress in the run up to the polls here.
