Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today congratulated his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi on being made BJP's Prime Ministerial nominee, saying his dynamic leadership will ensure "astounding victory" for the party in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Mr Advani has not been discreet about his opposition to his party's decision. The 85-year-old skipped the meeting of top leaders this evening that culminated in the announcement of Mr Modi's selection. In a letter to party chief Rajnath Singh, he said he is "anguished" by his style of functioning.

The announcement came despite stiff opposition from BJP heavyweight LK Advani. His supporters argue that it was inevitable after the Gujarat Chief Minister was made the chairman of the BJP's election strategy committee, which virtually made him the party's face for the national elections due by May.
When Narendra Modi was announced the BJP's candidate for prime minister, the party's senior-most leader, LK Advani, was missing. In a letter, he has said that he is "disappointed" with the manner in which Mr Modi has been selected.
Narendra Modi, anointed as the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate for 2014, took the first step towards his biggest dream by "seeking the blessings of millions of Indians" and promising to word hard to ensure BJP's win next year.
