Uttarakhand: death toll could cross 10,000, says Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal has said that he fears that more than 10,000 people may have died in the flash floods and landslides that have ravaged the state since June 16. Officially, the death toll is nearly 1000 so far.

The body of Darrell Castellino, who was the commander of the ill-fated Mi-17 helicopter that crashed in Gaurikund on Tuesday, was brought to Mumbai by a special Air Force flight this morning. Hi body will be kept at Nanavati Hospital tonight. Funeral will be held at a church in Vakola in the afternoon tomorrow.
