Ajay Pradyot, Secretary, Uttarakhand government, counters this claim. He says:

  • Our estimates more or less remain the same
  • It is a very scientific procedure that we are following
  • Four plans that we are following and we are arriving at a figure of around 3000 (missing)
  • These are the figures that we have received from the districts, based on FIRs, websites and complaints of those people who have come to us
  • Still trying to collate the info so can't commit the figure but definitely it's going to be around 3000
  • I expect that in next 3-4 days, some info will start pouring in from Rudraprayag, of the locals who have been affected
  • What could change these figures is the number of locals who have not registered with us
  • I do not know from where they have got this 11,000 figure
  • But we are sticking to our figures
