New Delhi: Snapdeal has announced the appointment of former Coca-Cola marketing veteran Idi Srinivas Murthy as senior vice president of marketing. Mr Murthy has earlier worked with multinational companies like Coca-Cola and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
"Srinivas joins Snapdeal after a string of successes in Marketing at The Coca-Cola Company and GlaxoSmithKline," the Delhi-based e-tailer said in a statement on Tuesday.
Mr Murthy replaces Sandeep Komaravelly, who "successfully spearheaded Snapdeal's Marketing function for 5 years" and has been moved to another strategic leadership role within the company, Snapdeal said.
"We are very excited to have Srinivas join the Snapdeal family. He comes with rich experience in leadership roles across various markets and I am sure his vast knowledge will add tremendous value and further fuel the Snapdeal growth story," Snapdeal co-founder and CEO Kunal Bahl said.
Mr Murthy is an electrical engineer from Vivekanand Engineering College, Mumbai and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
In his previous role at GSK, he spearheaded the British pharmaceuticals giant's portfolio expansion, innovation, and consumer and medical marketing across 44 countries, Snapdeal said.
At The Coca-Cola Company, "in his last role as Marketing Director India + South West Asia BU, he was responsible for leading Sprite to the number one beverage brand in the country", the statement added. He worked across different roles in marketing and operations and "was responsible for leading Sprite to the number one beverage brand in the country".
"I am extremely excited to be a part of the young, energetic and dynamic team at Snapdeal... I look forward to being a part of building an iconic brand in India for India and making Snapdeal's vision of creating life changing experiences for buyers and sellers a reality," Mr Murthy said.
Mr Murthy joined Coca-Cola as brand manager in 2001, according to his LinkedIn profile.
