IIM Calcutta students of the 2017 Post Graduate Diploma in Management were placed in a record three days with highest international package amounting to 90,000 euros (Rs 63 lakh) per annum, the B-School said. "The entire process was completed, with 100 per cent placement for the batch within record three days, in the second week of February. There were total 474 top notch offers including significant number of international offers," IIM Calcutta said in a statement. IIM Calcutta, one of the top B-Schools in the country, said the highest domestic package was Rs 70 lakh per annum.
The finance sector made the maximum number of offers. "Finance sector continued to churn out the maximum number of offers thus strengthening the image of IIM Calcutta as the finance campus of Asia. 29 per cent of the total offers were made in this sector by top recruiters like Avendus, Edelweiss, Goldman Sachs, HSBC etc," the institution said.
The consulting sector emerged as the second highest recruiter contributing to 22 per cent of the total offers made. Top recruiters in this sector were Accenture, AT Kearney, Bain, BCG, and McKinsey. General Management firms also recruited in big numbers this year with 15 per cent offers made in this sector by top firms such as ABG, CK Birla and TAS.
Sales and marketing roles contributed to 12 per cent of the total offers, predominantly by firms like HUL, ITC, P&G, and Reckitt Benckiser. Apart from these, e-commerce and IT roles also contributed to 14 per cent of the total offers, with companies like Amazon and Wipro hiring in big numbers, the institution said.
