Highlights from #BanegaSwasthIndia: 12-Hour Swasthagraha Comes To An End

The 12-hour Swasthagraha hopes to start a movement to ensure hygiene and nutrition for all, as only then can a strong foundation be laid for the future pf a healthy society.

The 12-hour Swasthagraha is inspired by the Satyagraha that defined Mahatma Gandhi's struggle for not just India's Independence, but also showed the world the power of mobilising people to embrace truth and non-violence. To mark the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a Swasthagraha is being initiated to make India not just cleaner but also healthier.

Kiren Rijiju on Plogging: We try to implement various kinds of initiatives toward sanitation. Today on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birthday, we wanted to do something new. We thought that we should do something for fitness also along with cleanliness. The Prime Minister also started the Fit India movement. One need not got to the gym to remain fit. We have combined Fit India movement and Swachh Bharat Mission to promote health and cleanliness. So in this initiative, you have to pick up waste while you jog.
