I have always been a sea person. I live in a landlocked city with one river that is threatening to give up. I crave water. Vacations have almost always meant the ocean - big waves welcome, even grey and angry ones.
But over the last three days, watching footage and pictures of Japan's devastation has been gut and heart wrenching. I do not think I will be able to stand and stare at the sea with any equanimity for some time to come.
And then, one of my colleagues caught this link shared by Sean Bonner and sent it to me nigh midnight. Trust me, not the best time for the strongest set of nerves to view something like this.
These are amateur video footages of the Tsunami, one of them just shy of six-and-a-half minutes, and I agree with Bonner that they are downright scary. The stunned expression of those watching cars being tossed about like empty match boxes down water-filled streets that were roads only yesterday, says it all.
