Catch of the Day: Oprah reunites cast of Sound of Music

Chicago: The studio was alive with the Sound of Music. And if you have not grown up singing Do Re Mi or hummed Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens (My Favourite Things) or Edelweiss, then do run to YouTube this moment and bring yourself up to speed.

Trust Oprah Winfrey to bring it all together 45 years after the film The Sound of Music released. The entire Von Trapp family trooped in to the sound of Captain Von Trapp's whistle once more - this time elegant, grey-haired and wrinkled.

There is a huge buzz and all those, or their mothers, who missed the episode that aired in the US yesterday and are likely to miss the repeat airing, are begging others for links to where they can view it all.

Alas, the two parts that I found uploaded on YouTube had bad audio, so shall not share it. The moment I have caught a good link or a player, it shall be here. So watch this space.

Till then, catch this magnificent portion where Charmian Carr, who played the eldest Von Trapp daughter Liesl, extravagantly admitted that she had the most enormous crush on her screen father, the ever handsome Christopher Plummer. Well, who didn't?

Or Plummer confirming that he had "fallen in love" with Julie Andrews after seeing her on Broadway in her My Fair Lady performance.

So there were the seven Von Trapp "children" (Leisl or Charmian, who sang "I am 16", was 23 when the film released and is 67 now), the beautiful Julie Andrews, now 75, and Plummer, 80, together for the reunion on the Oprah Winfrey show. There is a book in the writing too that shall chronicle their experiences of having worked in a film that won five Academy awards and millions of hearts.

Charmian, incidentally, has some rare photographs of her with her six on-screen siblings here on her website http://www.charmiancarr.com/liesl.php, together, later in life.

Even this show preview is worth a watch:

And since Winfrey does not do things half-baked, the real Von Trapp great-grandchildren performed as well. Catch more on this show here.
