Outsourcing controversy hits The Simpsons
Los Angeles: Just a day after its release, the controversial intro by well-known UK street artist, Banksy that vaulted the longtime TV giant The Simpsons back into conversation was our Catch as we crawled the web for videos that made you stop and stare.

Banksy's Simpsons intro went viral and millions have seen it by now. Many others still searching for it came across YouTube's infamous screen stating that the content had been removed at the request of the copyright owner. Fox, reports said, had begun pulling out the
YouTube videos of The Simpsons latest opening credit over "copyright infringement".

TechCrunch however claims the content owner would much rather you watch the content on Hulu. And thus, the video pulldown. (Read: After shooting itself in the foot, Fox allows Banksy Simpsons intro back on YouTube)

Banksy's viral art later reappeared on YouTube.

On Sunday, the intro that Banksy storyboarded aired in the US, in an episode titled MoneyBart. As the art went viral, we showed you the dark and extended sequence that took a pot shot at 20th Century Fox, which owns the show, based on reports that some animation is outsourced to Asia.

It's a dark sequence. Bedraggled, barefoot Asians crank out assembly-line products, rats feed on skulls and bones, the horn of a weary, captive unicorn is used to punch holes in DVDs. Kittens are seen being thrown into a chipper and their fur used to stuff dolls. There is also a depressed-looking Panda working hard.

Banksy's intro has some classic Simpson moments like Bart writing on the board in his classroom, albeit with a twist, or the family couch gag which leads into a provocative sweatshop sequence. It shows a dingy, worn-down factory where Asian workers make Simpsons DVDs and other merchandise like Bart dolls and clothing.

Banksy reportedly created the sequence based on reports that The Simpsons characters are animated in Seoul, South Korea. Banksy is the pseudonym of a British street artist, who keeps his identity a secret.
