London:
For a few generations around the world that were not fed a compulsory diet of Japanese-Manga-turned-high-pitched, rude animation in every conceivable language, there was The Simpsons.
And you didn't have to be American to love it. Though the series is a satirical take on middle class American life, everyone has a bit of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, or Maggie in them. The Simpsons have always been iconic and now a controversial intro created by well-known UK street artist, Banksy, is on its way to becoming a viral video.
The intro is a top trending twitter topic right now.
On Sunday, the intro that Banksy storyboarded aired in the US, in an episode titled MoneyBart.
Banksy's intro has some classic Simpson moments like Bart writing on the board in his classroom, albeit with a twist, or the family couch gag which leads into a provocative sweatshop sequence.
The extended sequence takes a pot shot at 20th Century Fox, which owns the show, based on reports that some animation is outsourced to Asia. It shows a dingy, worn-down factory where Asian workers make Simpsons DVDs and other merchandise like Bart dolls and clothing.
It's a dark sequence. Bedraggled, barefoot Asians crank out assembly-line products, rats feed on skulls and bones, the horn of a weary, captive unicorn is used to punch holes in DVDs. Kittens are seen being thrown into a chipper and their fur used to stuff dolls. There is also a depressed-looking Panda working hard.
In keeping with the artist's métier, signboards in Springfield have graffiti - Banksy's name.

For those that care for that sort of thing, the show debuted as a half-hour series on American television on December 17, 1989. So that is 21 years of successful running.
We are crawling the Web for more great videos, tweets pictures, blogs and people that just must be showcased. If you spot some that make you stop and stare, send them in here. We'll be happy to credit it to your spidery efforts on the WWW.
