Chandigarh: Punjab Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly raping two minor daughters of a vegetable vendor in Lehra Mohabbat village of Bathinda district in southwest Punjab, 200 kilometres from Chandigarh, police said on Wednesday.
The accused Ram Pal had raped the two minors, aged 11 and 13 years, at their house. The mother was away from home when the rapes took place.
The accused threatened the victims not to tell anyone about the rapes. However, they told their father on Monday about the incidents, police said.
The accused, who is from Uttar Pradesh, is a gardener.
Police said that a case of rape and criminal intimidation has been registered against Ram Pal.
