Chandigarh: In a brazen daylight robbery, a gunman was caught on camera firing at a man inside a jewellery shop in Chandigarh before walking away with the loot worth Rs 5 lakh.
The incident happened at the busy Sector 22 D market in the city, just yards away from a police checkpost. Footage from the CCTV camera at the shop shows the accused firing at the employee as he turned to weigh a gold bracelet. The assailant, who was carrying two country-made firearms, is seen taking out the second after the first one failed to fire.
People in the neighbouring shops reportedly ignored the sound of the gunshot, mistaking it for a tyre burst.
While the victim lay injured, the gunman is seen stashing boxes of jewellery into a black knapsack and then walking out of the shop.
