Chandigarh:
A Punjab government helicopter caught fire at the airport here this morning, leaving two pilots injured.
Police said the chopper, which was taken on a lease from a private company, was taxiing and was just a few metres above the ground when it caught fire, tilted and hit the surface.
There was no passenger on board the cause of the accident is still not clear but sources suggest technical fault.
Air traffic at Chandigarh airport has been suspended till the debris is cleared.
The Pawan Hans helicopter was coming to Chandigarh to pick up state Industries Minister Manorajan Kalia, who was to go on an official visit to Mukerian.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, they said, adding the two pilots have been admitted to a hospital.
The DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the inccident.
