Chandigarh:
Chandigarh Police have launched an inquest into the mysterious death of the son of an Indian Administrative Service officer from Himachal Pradesh. Abhishek Kapoor, son of senior Himachal cadre bureaucrat PC Kapoor, was found dead in a room in Himachal Bhavan here on Monday, an official said.
The staff at the Sector 28-based Himachal Bhavan, a government-run guest house, informed police after they found Abhishek's body inside room number 501 Monday.
Police were told that the victim had consumed liquor in the room late on Sunday night with two friends. The room was booked in his father's name.
Abhishek, 28, was an engineer and had worked in a software company in Mohali town, adjoining Chandigarh.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Singh said that the statements of his two friends, who were last seen with him, were being recorded. He said that the exact reason for Abhishek's death was not yet ascertained.
Police recovered two liquor bottles from the room.
The victim's father is a principal secretary rank officer in Himachal Pradesh. He is posted in Shimla.
