Chandigarh:
A murder convict who was admitted at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh escaped in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
According to the police, Raju, a murder convict lodged in an Ambala jail in Haryana, complained of severe stomach pain and was brought to the PGIMER around 11 p.m. on Friday.
Two policemen were stationed near him, but Raju managed to escape from the hospital around 4 a.m., said a police official.
Raju was arrested in 1998 and was convicted by the court in 2004.
