The pedestrian was trying to cross the highway when he was hit by the pilot vehicle
A man was killed on Monday night after a vehicle in the convoy of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar hit him on the National Highway 1. Mr Khattar was coming to Delhi from Chandigarh when this accident took place.
The Superintendent of Police said that the pedestrian was trying to cross the highway when he was hit by the pilot vehicle of Mr Khattar's convoy.
Grievously injured, the man was rushed to the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College where he succumbed to multiple injuries.
Two policemen in the pilot vehicle also sustained injuries in the accident.
"It was an unfortunate incident but the investigation is still on as to who was at fault. We will try to avoid such incidents in the future," Mr Khattar said.
The driver of the pilot vehicle has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.
