Chandigarh:
A Punjabi singer was thrashed by a group of people, reportedly members of Shiromani Akali Dal, at a marriage function in Mohali near Chandigarh on Monday night.
Police said Babbu Chandigarhia alias Shubash, a local Punjabi singer, refused to oblige when the group asked him to sing at the marriage party which was organised at the lawns of Punjab Cricket Association stadium. He said he was at the function as a guest and not as a singer. This infuriated the group and they began thrashing him.
Sources said the party was organised in connection with the marriage of a distant relative of an Akali Dal leader Balwant Singh Ramoowalia.
