Chandigarh:
Three people were arrested in Punjab's Jalandhar district with heroin worth Rs 40 crore smuggled from Pakistan, police said on Sunday.
"On a tip off, we laid a trap on the outskirts of Jalandhar on Friday night and intercepted a white car. We recovered eight kg of high-quality heroin," Assistant Inspector General of Counter-Intelligence Cell Opinderjit Singh Ghumman said.
"It was smuggled from Pakistan as the packets have impressions of Pakistan stamps in Urdu language. The three accused were supposed to sell these drugs in different parts of the country," Ghumman said.
Those arrested have been identified as Bhag Singh - a resident of Amritsar, Gurwant Singh and Jaskaran Singh, both residents of Tarn Taran district.
