Chandigarh: A middle-aged shopkeeper, his wife and their teenage daughter were found brutally murdered at their house in Bandepur village of Haryana's Sonipat district on Friday morning, police said.
According to police, Sanjay, 45, his wife Sunita and daughter Archana, 13, were found stabbed to death by unidentified assailants at their house in the village, 170 km from here.
An investigating officer told Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) that the murders were committed with sharp-edged weapons late on Thursday night. The slain people were stabbed several times by the assailants, the officer added.
The murders came to light after a neighbour went to meet the family and saw their bodies lying in pools of blood. The village head later called the police.
Police officials said that they were trying to ascertain the motive behind the murders and the people behind it.
"We are investigating the matter," Rohtak Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alok Mittal told IANS.
